On Wednesday, March 23, Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis held a meeting with Ambassadors of the EU Member States and candidate countries to Latvia.
During the meeting, the current EU issues – migration, single market, as well as energy and climate were discussed.
The officials also discussed the situation in Europe in relation to terrorist attacks, which occurred on Tuesday, March 22 in Belgium when explosions took place at the Brussels Zaventem airport and Maelbeek metro station, as the result of which dozens of people were killed and more than two hundred got injured.
The Prime Minister stressed that "it is essential to intensify the capacity and cooperation of security services of the EU Member States, which will be a decisive factor in the fight against terrorism."
The Prime Minister also informed the ambassadors about the government's priorities - economic growth, health and education reforms.
