On Thursday 6 October, Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis met with President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in Rīga.

During the meeting, both sides agreed that a mutual economic cooperation needs to be developed, taking into account that Tatarstan is one of the most developed regions of Russia.

M. Kučinskis stressed that Latvia is interested in cooperation in the transport and logistics sector. Latvia is open for further dialogues with Tatarstan regarding a mutually beneficial cooperation. "We have the opportunity to open new logistic centres – we already have good experience in cooperating with other countries in this sector," said the Prime Minister.

R. Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, is visiting Latvia at the invitation of Arvils Ašeradens, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Economics. The goal of the visit is to strengthen the economic cooperation. Therefore, within the framework of the visit, the Latvian - Tatarstan Business Forum is being held, the Freeport of Riga and companies servicing the Riga International Airport are visited.

During the visit, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan met with President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis, Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Economics Arvils Ašeradens and Minister for Transport Uldis Augulis.
