On Friday 9 December, Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis met Prime Minister of Estonia  Jüri Ratas in Rīga.
Both parties shared the point of view that Latvia and Estonia enjoy excellent political relations, which are fundamental to successful economic relations. 

During the meeting, the officials discussed the economic cooperation between the two countries, the capacity to attract investments, as well as tax policy. J. Ratas presented the priorities of his newly appointed government to the Prime Minister of Latvia, and welcomed the current successful dialogue to date, as well as expressed the commitment to maintain positive relationship also in the future.

Estonia is one of the major and most important economic partners of Latvia – the second largest trade partner and the seventh largest investor.

J. Ratas became the Head of the Government when the previous Prime Minister of Estonia Taavi Rõivas lost his post. He has arrived in Rīga within the framework of the Baltic Prime Ministers' meeting.
