On Thursday, 25 June, Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs took part in the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026 in Gdansk (Poland), to strengthen international support for Ukraine’s recovery, particularly in the sectors most affected by the war. The Prime Minister reaffirmed Latvia’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, emphasising that Ukraine’s recovery is closely linked to security and stability in Europe.

“Latvia will stand by Ukraine for as long as necessary. Ukraine’s reconstruction is a shared responsibility of all countries, requiring long-term political commitment, international cooperation and the involvement of the private sector. The reconstruction of the energy sector, critical infrastructure and logistics is a prerequisite for economic growth, attracting investment and enabling people to return to normal daily life. By investing in Ukraine’s reconstruction, we are simultaneously strengthening Europe’s security, economic resilience and our shared democratic values,” emphasises Andris Kulbergs.

During the conference, the Prime Minister took part in discussions on the reconstruction of Ukraine’s economy, the development of critical infrastructure, energy security, investment attraction and Ukraine’s integration into the European Union. A summit of leaders of the Eastern Flank countries was also held, and the Prime Minister met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Ukraine’s Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.

Andris Kulbergs also met with representatives of the Latvian military manufacturing company TETERS, the IT company TILDE, the wooden panel house manufacturer Easywood and the technology company FORTES, all of which are already involved in Ukraine’s reconstruction.

This year, the Ukraine Recovery Conference was organised by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The aim of the conference is to mobilise international support for Ukraine’s reconstruction, despite Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine. The conference serves as an annual platform bringing together representatives of Ukraine’s partner countries, including the G7 countries, international organisations, financial institutions, the business community and civil society organisations. It provides an opportunity for those involved in Ukraine’s reconstruction to discuss best practices and challenges and build partnerships for coordinated action.
