Covid-19 State Chancellery
--

A new remuneration model for medical practitioners has been developed by #GovLabLatvia - the Latvian Public Administration Innovation Laboratory - using the design thinking approach to solve a complex problem. Experts from the State Chancellery, doctors, nurses, employers in the healthcare sector, university lecturers, and healthcare policymakers took part in the think tanks.

With the introduction of the new remuneration model for medical practitioners, it is planned to achieve the target salary - double the average remuneration - within seven years. Upon increasing the salary of doctors every year, the target salary in 2027 would constitute 3,833 euros (based on current forecasts of changes in the average salary), while for nurses, medical assistants, etc., it would be 2,259 euros, and for nursing assistants, 1,096 euros per month.
