Mr Andrus Ansip, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Single Market will visit Riga on Thursday, December 11.
On Monday, December 8, Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg arrived to Latvia to meet Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma. During the meeting the officials discussed the excellent bilateral cooperation, incl. cultural and economic cooperation, and preparation for Latvia's Presidency of the Council of the EU, the cooperation with Norway during the Presidency, the situation in Ukraine and cooperation in the field of defence.
On Friday, December 5, the Prime Ministers of three Baltic States met in the Baltic Council of Ministers in Maardu (Estonia) to review recent progress in implementing the joint regional projects of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. The attention was mainly given to information technology, energy, transport infrastructure, as well as security issues.
Riga, 4 December, 2014. – Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament (EP) are meeting today with the Latvian officials in Riga to discuss the incoming Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU), scheduled for the first half of 2015.
On Wednesday, December 3 in Brussels, during a bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma and President of the European Council Donald Tusk discussed the priorities of Latvia's Presidency – competitive Europe, digital Europe and engaged Europe, as well as plans of D.Tusk in the post of the President of the European Council.
On Wednesday, December 3 in Brussels, during a bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma and President of the EC Jean-Claude Juncker discussed the priorities of the presidency, as well as the action needed to ensure successful implementation of a new Investment Plan for Europe during the presidency, and in order the economies and residents of the EU countries would feel real benefits as soon as possible.

Riga, 28 November 2014. – While preparing to take over the tasks of the presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Prime Minister of Latvia Laimdota Straujuma and ministers will pay a working visit to Brussels on 3 December. Joint work session between the College of Commissioners and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia as well as several bilateral meetings of the Prime Minister of Latvia and the other ministers are planned during the visit.
Riga, 27 November, 2014. – Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament will visit Latvia on 3-4 December, 2014 to discuss the upcoming Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union with Latvian officials. The delegation will be led by the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, for whom this will be the first visit to Latvia.
