Today, on 10 July, Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš established a Steering Group for the Coordination of Inter-institutional Activities, whose task is to ensure the implementation of the Law on the Management of the Spread of COVID-19 Infection by coordinating the activities of all institutions related to limiting the spread of COVID-19 in Latvia.

Jānis Citskovskis, the Director of the State Chancellery, has been appointed Head of the Steering Group for the Coordination of Inter-institutional Activities, and Daina Mūrmane-Umbraško, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Health, and Dimitrijs Trofimovs, the State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior have been appointed Deputy Heads.

The crisis coordination group consists of Ingus Alliks, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Welfare, Edvīns Balševics, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, Baiba Bāne, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Māris Cepurītis, the Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security, Jānis Garisons, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Iveta Gavare, the Director of the Disease Prevention and Control Centre, Gints Kaminskis, the Chairman of the Latvian Association of Local Governments, Raivis Kronbergs, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Līga Lejiņa, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science, Dace Lucaua, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Andris Pelšs, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ilonda Stepanova, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Edmunds Valantis, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economics, Dace Vilsone, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Mārtiņš Baltmanis, the Deputy Head of the State Fire and Rescue Service, Andrejs Grišins, the acting Chief of the State Police, and Ivars Ruskulis, the Deputy Head of the State Border Guard.

The first meeting of the Steering Group for the Coordination of Inter-institutional Activities took place on Friday, 10 July. During it, the current situation and the next steps for successfully controlling the spread of Covid-19 infection were discussed. The next meeting is scheduled for the coming week.
