The Prime Minister will participate in the national unity manifestation in Paris
On January 11, Prime Minister of Latvia Laimdota Straujuma as the Prime Minister of the country presiding over the EU will leave for Paris to participate in the planned manifestation of national unity.
We have already informed that the Prime Minister of Latvia has strictly condemned the acts of violence in Paris, and made a statement during the opening event of Latvia’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union on January 8 in the Latvian National Opera:
“We are united with the people of France in mourning for the victims of violence. However, the French people should know – Latvia, all European Union states – we stand shoulder to shoulder in your sorrow. Today we all express a single idea - we will defend all European fundamental values and fundamental rights. We will not allow to affect them. We will be steadfast. We will increasingly honour these values. Human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights are the names of these values. The European Union will continue along its path. Towards growth, towards smart, innovative, globally strong Europe”.
