On Monday 9 May, Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis held a meeting with Geert Bourgeois, Prime Minister of Flanders in Rīga. 

During the meeting, the officials discussed cooperation between Latvia and Flanders, especially in view of the fact that this year marks the 20th anniversary of signing the agreement on mutual cooperation.

The two sides agreed that there are prospects for further development of economic cooperation and expanding  the cooperation in the area of tourism and education.

Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis also highlighted a perspective for cooperation with Flanders in the fields of transport and logistics, as well as technology transfer.

The officials  welcomed the Memorandum of Cooperation that was signed today between the University of Latvia and the the Catholic University of Leuven.
