07.06.2013 Irish Presidency is committed to finalize approval of the EU budget in the coming weeks
On June 6, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis held a meeting with Prime Minister of Ireland Enda Kenny to discuss the most important issues on the European Union (EU) agenda coordinated by Ireland – the current presiding country of the EU. The Prime Ministers devoted particular attention to current negotiations between the European Parliament, the EC and Council with a view to end the process of approval of the agreement concluded in February on the next EU’s multi-annual financial framework for 2014-2020. The Prime Minister expressed his commitment to achieve this result by the end of month when the Irish Presidency will end.

05.06.2013 Dombrovskis: The EC and the ECB recognize Latvia’s progress in improving economy
“The positive assessment of the European Commission and the European Central Bank is the recognition of changes made to the Latvian economy, which have been implemented largely thanks to the Latvian entrepreneurs, citizens and society as a whole. It provides an opportunity for Latvia to make the next step and join the single European currency”, says Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis, assessing the Convergence Reports of the EC and the ECB, which were released today, and which conclude that the economy of Latvia meets all the Maastricht criteria and is ready to join the euro area.
