On Thursday, May 31, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis welcomed the ratification of the European Union's fiscal discipline treaty by the Saeima (Parliament).
Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis emphasizes that the ratification of the EU's fiscal discipline treaty is an important signal for the European Union and international financial markets that Latvia is ready to observe fiscal discipline and foster sustainable growth. The ratification of the treaty by the Parliaments of other countries is also indicative of their interest in ensuring the stability of the EU.
As reported, the Saeima in the second and final reading supported the draft law by which Latvia ratifies the so-called European Union's (EU's) fiscal discipline treaty. Latvia is the fifth EU Member State whose Parliament has supported the ratification of the fiscal discipline treaty.
