On Wednesday, June 27, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis held a meeting with Galymzhan Koishybayev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan. The parties were of the same opinion that it is essential to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries, particularly, in the area of logistics and cargo transportation.

The Prime Minister extended gratitude for previous cooperation in strengthening the political dialogue and economic relations and the development of the transit sector.
The Ambassador acknowledged that Latvia is an important cooperation partner of Kazakhstan in many areas, particularly, in transit.

Owing to the opportunities provided by the Latvian ports, it is possible to ensure that the goods of Kazakhstan reach the Western region countries, said the Ambassador, admitting, that the cooperation between both countries has always been close and trade volumes increased also during the crisis period. The sides confirmed their readiness to continue to develop bilateral relations, incl., to extend the cooperation in the area of transport, transit and logistics as well as by continuing to develop contacts between entrepreneurs.
