On Tuesday, June 12, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis will meet Lord Stephen Green, Minister of State for Trade and Investment of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The officials will discuss the opportunities to further develop economic cooperation between Latvia and Great Britain.
The most important topics of the visit are strengthening of bilateral trade cooperation, business environment in Latvia and opportunities it offers to potential investors of Great Britain. During the meeting, the parties will also discuss growth of the European Union and other topical issues.

The officials' meeting will start at 9:15 (Prime Ministers' Hall, 3rd floor of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers). At the beginning of the meeting, a TV/photo opportunity is planned. Arrival of the media representatives to the media opportunities - 15 minutes prior to the event.
Indicators of trade between Latvia and Great Britain:
The main export product groups of Latvia are timber and its products (70.10%), metals and metal products (5.76%), different industrial goods (3.71%). The imports are dominated by metals and metal products (26.50%), machinery and mechanisms, electric equipment (19.64%), textile materials and textile products (11.66%).
According to the data of the Bank of Latvia, at the end of 2011, direct investment surplus of Great Britain in Latvia amounted to EUR 255.6 million, while direct investment surplus of Latvia in Great Britain amounted to EUR 0.5 million. Great Britain has made investments mainly in operations with the real estate – 39%, wholesale and retail– 36.5%, financial intermediation – 54%, manufacturing – 20%, operations with real estate – 16% etc.
