On Friday March 11, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis will participate in the extraordinary European Council meeting in Brussels. The European Council meeting has been convened to discuss the latest developments in southern neighboring countries and to define the EU principal guidelines for activities in this region.

Today, on March 10, Director of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, Minister Wang Jiarui will arrive to Latvia for a two-day visit. Within the framework of the visit Wang Jiarui will meet the high level officials of Latvia and representatives of political parties and will visit Ventspils. This will be a return visit after the meeting of the Prime Minister of Latvia and Wang Jiarui in Beijing in May 2010 when V.Dombrovskis paid a visit to the People’s Republic of China.

On March 7, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Karel Schwarzenberg within the framework of his official visit to Latvia. The parties mainly discussed the bilateral cooperation in the area of politics and economics, as well as exchanged their opinions on current issues on the European Union (EU) agenda.
On Friday, March 4, in Helsinki, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis met the Heads of State and Government of the European Union countries representing the European People`s Party. The main issues discussed during the meeting were competitiveness of the eurozone and the European Union, as well as current developments in the Northern African countries.
On Monday, March 7, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis will meet Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Karel Schwarzenberg during his official visit to Latvia. Within the framework of the meeting the sides will discuss the development of bilateral relations of Latvia and the Czech Republic, the political and economic situation in Latvia and the Czech Republic, as well as current EU issues.
Today, on March 3, a meeting of Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Latvia Paulino González Fernández-Corugedo was held. The Ambassador of Spain arrived on his farewell visit at the conclusion of his work-term in Latvia.
