19.01.2012 Confirm readiness to cooperate in defending the interests of the Czech Republic and Latvia
On Wednesday, January 18, in conversation with new Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Latvia Pavol Šepelák, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis emphasized the need to strengthen fiscal discipline in order to stabilize the eurozone. The Prime Minister and the Ambassador also agreed on readiness of the two countries to cooperate to defend common interests in the context of next multi-annual budget of the EU.

22.12.2011 Three-year-long Latvian international loan programme is closed
On Wednesday, December 21, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) decided on closing the Latvian loan programme, within the framework of which Latvia in total used 4.4 billion euro or 3 billion lats received from the IMF, the European Commission and World Bank in the period from December 23, 2008, when the IMF Executive Board approved the first part of the loan.
