Today, on May 20, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis met Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Han Qide and representatives of the delegation who, within the framework of the visit to Latvia, are meeting the senior public officials.
During the discussion, the sides agreed that the dialogue between Latvia and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the bilateral cooperation are developing dynamically. Prime Minister V. Dombrovskis stressed that it is important for Latvia to develop the economic and trade relations with China and continue the cooperation between entrepreneurs of Latvia and China, as well as to attract the investments. Han Qide expressed the opinion, that he sees opportunities for cooperation with Latvia in the area of medicine and pharmacy, transport, logistics, as well as other areas.
The sides discussed the cooperation in the area of culture and the intention to establish the Confucius Institute in Rīga. The Prime Minister thanked the Chinese representative for the PRC’s support providing 500 Latvian students with the opportunity to study Chinese.
