The introduction of the euro in Latvia would promote economic cooperation between Latvia and Estonia |
Today, on April 29, Prime Minister of Estonia Andrus Ansip is paying his first foreign visit to Latvia after the elections and approval of the new government. During the visit, the bilateral meeting of the Heads of Government of Latvia and Estonia was held, during which the sides discussed the issues on the EU agenda and current events of the Baltic region, including trends in the area of tourism, the energy and infrastructure projects. Both Prime Ministers expressed their satisfaction about the excellent bilateral relations. |

Saeima has adopted amendments to the 2011 state budget and accompanying laws |
| On Thursday, April 14 Saeima adopted in the last reading amendments to the law on the 2011 state budget envisaging revenue in amount of 4.261 billion lats which is by 107 lats more and expenditure in amount of 4.755 billion which is by 27 million lats more than in the approved budget. With amendments the state budget deficit (according to national cash-flow methodology) will be reduced down to 493.6 million lats or 3.7% of GDP. |

Today, on April 1, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis held a meeting with Head of the Latvian Delegation to the Baltic Assembly Jānis Reirs and representatives of the delegation. During the discussion, the sides mentioned the successful cooperation between the Baltic Assembly and the Baltic Council of Ministers (BCM) and discussed priority projects. |
