On September 6-7, at the invitation of Prime Minister V.Dombrovskis, Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany will pay an official visit to Latvia.
Within the framework of the official visit the meetings with Latvian officials are planned – President Valdis Zatlers and Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis in presence of Minister for Foreign Affairs, Aivis Ronis and Minister for Economics, Artis Kampars. The main objective of the visit is to enhance the economic cooperation between Latvia and Germany. More detailed information on the agenda of the visit will be provided by September 2.
This will be the first official visit of German Chancellor, A.Merkel to Latvia. The German Chancellor has paid a visit to Latvia within the framework of the NATO summit in November 2006. In June 2000, Chancellor of the Federal Germany, Gerhard Schröder paid a working visit to Latvia and in January 1998 German Chancellor H.Kohl visited Latvia within the framework of the meeting of the Heads of Government of the Baltic Sea countries.
Information about media accreditation! The media representatives who plan to report on the visit of the German Chancellor to Latvia are asked to register by September 1 sending an application to the Communication Department of the State Chancellery to e-mail: laine.kucinska@mk.gov.lv.
Please indicate: name, surname, identity code, the mass medium represented and contact information (e-mail, mobile phone) of the mass medium representative. It will be possible to receive the accreditation cards on Monday, September 6, from 9.00 until 17.00 at the Cabinet of Ministers (36 Brīvības blvd.), 4th floor, Room 422.
