On Friday, May 28, at the opening of the annual meeting of the Government and the Foreign Investors’ Council, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis emphasized the accomplishments of the Government and the importance of the structural reforms aimed at creating a favourable business environment in Latvia.

On Monday, May 24, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis gave a speech at the first China-Europe High-Level Political Parties Forum. In his speech, the Prime Minister mentioned that this forum provides a new way of conducting a dialogue between countries, between parties and the people they represent. V.Dombrovskis emphasized that today China and the European Union are strategic partners. ”I am convinced that the new Lisbon Treaty will enable the EU to play an even more active role in addressing the current global challenges, which cannot be resolved without the active involvement of China”, said V.Dombrovskis.
On Monday, May 24, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis met Hui Liangyu Deputy Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China to discuss bilateral relations and opportunities for future cooperation between both countries.
On May 23-27, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis will pay a visit to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to participate in the opening of Latvia’s exhibition hall at the international exhibition ”World Expo 2010” and meet high-level officials of the government and local- governments.
On May 20, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis arrived to the capital city of Afghanistan – Kabul where the meeting of the Prime Minister and President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai was held.
Today, on May 20, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis, Minister for Foreign Affairs Aivis Ronis, Brigadier General and Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Defence for Military Capability Development Raimonds Graube and the delegation are leaving for Kabul – the capital city of Afghanistan. In Kabul a meeting of the Prime Minister and President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai is planned. Within the framework of the meeting the parties will discuss the current situation in Afghanistan, as well as participation of the President of Afghanistan in the forthcoming NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Rīga.
