On May 26, Prime Minister V.Dombrovskis opened the pavilion of Latvia in the international exhibition World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
In his address, the Prime Minister thanked for the kind reception and successful cooperation with creators of the Latvian pavilion. The Prime Minister extended special gratitude to Hong Hao Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai local government and H.E. Cheng Wenju Director-General of the World Expo Coordination Bureau and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the PRC to the Republic of Latvia. Prime Minister V.Dombrovskis extended special gratitude also to creators and employees of Latvia’s pavilion who have made great contribution to the development of innovative and world-class pavilion.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the international exhibition World Expo 2010 provides a unique opportunity for small countries to present themselves and arise interest of the people of China, as well as people from other countries and potential cooperation partners. Prime Minister V.Dombrovskis: “Today there is a wind tunnel in the centre of Latvia’s pavilion and the visitors will have an opportunity to fly – in direct and, hopefully, also figurative meaning. Flying gives positive emotions, makes us look at the world from a new perspective and encourages the imagination. I wish every visitor of our pavilion to experience a happy flight and to fly to Latvia some day!"
After the opening ceremony, Prime Minister V.Dombrovskis tested the central exposition of the pavilion by flying in the vertical wind tunnel.
