The Year of Dombrovskis’ Government: the Most Critical in the Past, the Most Significant still Ahead |
 The Cabinet of Ministers headed by Valdis Dombrovskis was approved by Saeima’s vote on March 12, 2009 in circumstances when the economic crisis and insolvency of the country had become a reality. ”The Government has accomplished its most important tasks – prevented insolvency of the country, overcame the most critical point of economic crisis, and stabilized the financial and economic system, which is a necessary basis for further work on increasing the national competitiveness and restoring economic activity. This difficult task was achieved without very serious social tensions, although not without serious decisions in the social sector”, acknowledges V.Dombrovskis speaking about the year of work of the Cabinet of Ministers. |

The Prime Minister held a meeting with the Ambassador of Germany |
 On Thursday, March 4, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis held a meeting with Detlef Weigel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany during his farewell visit. Both parties discussed bilateral cooperation, especially in economics, as well as the economic situation in Latvia. |

On Wednesday, March 31, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis held a meeting with representatives of the Special Committee on the Financial, Economic and Social Crisis of the European Parliament with a view to inform about activities of the Government and the results in stabilizing the socio-economic situation in Latvia. 
On March 25 – 26, the European Council meeting was held in Brussels where Latvia was represented by Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis. 
On Thursday, March 18, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis held a meeting with Pascal Fieschi, the Ambassador of the Republic of France to Latvia during his farewell visit.
