On Thursday, March 18, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis held a meeting with Pascal Fieschi, the Ambassador of the Republic of France to Latvia during his farewell visit.
V.Dombrovskis thanked the Ambassador of France for his personal contribution in strengthening bilateral relations of both countries. The Prime Minister recognized the contribution of France in developing active political dialogue and culture projects thanks to activities of the French Culture Centre.
During the meeting, both parties discussed the impact of global economic crisis on the economic cooperation between Latvia and France and the potential to promote the interest of French investors in implementation of business projects in Latvia. The Prime Minister acknowledged the willingness of the Government to reduce administrative burden for foreign investments and development in Latvia.
The Prime Minister and the Ambassador of France discussed the economic situation in Latvia, the main reforms to be implemented and their economic impact, reaching the Maastricht criteria and joining the eurozone in 2014. The issues of international security policy were also discussed.
