The meeting of the Baltic Council of Ministers will be held

From January 21-22, Andrus Ansip, Prime Minister of Estonia and Andrius Kubilius, Prime Minister of Lithuania will pay a visit to Latvia within the framework of the meeting of the Baltic Council of Ministers. The meeting of the Baltic Council of Ministers will be held in Mežotne Palace, Bauska region.

On January 21, the Prime Ministers of the Baltic countries will discuss strategic cooperation of Baltic and Nordic countries. Uffe Ellemann-Jensen, Chairman of the Baltic Development Forum and Roberts Ķīlis, Associate Professor of the Stockholm School of Economics, Chairman of the Commission of Strategic Analysis under the Auspices of the President of the Republic of Latvia will also participate in the discussion. .

On January 22, the discussions of the Baltic Council of Ministers on economic stabilization and competitiveness of the Baltic countries are planned. The discussions will be attended also by Andris Vilks, Senior Economist at SEB banka and Gints Freimanis, Advisor to the Prime Minister.

The meeting of the Baltic Council of Ministers will end with a meeting of the Prime Ministers of the Baltic countries and Aivis Ronis, representative of the Group of Experts for Drafting NATO's New Strategic Concept.

The Prime Ministers’ press conference will be held on Friday, January 22, from 12.00 – 12.20, in Mežotne Palace, 2nd floor, Room No 1.

Attention to media representatives!

All representatives of the media shall notify of their participation in the press conference by January 19, by the end of working day by e-mail: laine.kucinska@mk.gov.lv or phone: 67082905. The media who will fail to apply for participation in time will not have opportunity to attend the press conference.

The meeting of the Baltic Council of Ministers is organized by Latvia under its presidency of the Baltic Council of Ministers in 2010. The Baltic Council of Ministers (BCM) is an institution for intergovernmental cooperation between Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. It was established on June 13, 1994. The BCM is responsible for continuous cooperation at the executive level of the countries.
