On April 26-27, Valdis Dombrovskis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, is visiting Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania, in order to meet his Lithuanian and Estonian counterparts and to participate in a round-table discussion on the formation of the common Baltic energy market, development of interconnections and other important energy-related projects.
The trilateral meeting of the Heads of Governments of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania is scheduled for Sunday, April 26, but on April 27 it is planned to hold a round-table discussion and presentations on the subject „The common Baltic energy market and its integration into the European markets”.
Participants of this meeting will be Minister for Economy of Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Sweden and Finland, representatives of the European Commission and CEO of companies (such as LEO LT, Latvenergo, Eesti Energia, PSE-Operator S.E., Svenska Kraftnat and Fingrid).
A number of presentations are planned, including presentation „Formation of the Common Baltic Electricity Market: Main Obstacles and Roadmap” by Latvia’s representative Anrijs Matīss, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economics. There will also be several presentations on energy-related projects. Matthias Ruete, Director-General for Energy and Transport of the European Commission, will present a paper on the Baltic interconnection plan, its priorities and financial assistance from the European Union.
The meeting will end by signing a joint declaration of the Prime Ministers of the Baltic States.
