The 11th high-level meeting of the Government of Latvia and the Foreign Investors Council in Latvia will take place on Friday, June 1, at 9:00 a.m. to 00:15 p.m., in the Green Hall (2nd floor of the of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers). A TV and photo opportunity is planned at the beginning of the meeting, at 9:00 a.m.
After the meeting, at 00:20 p.m., Aigars Kalvītis and Dr. Gunter Dunkel will hold a joint press conference in the Guest Hall (3rd floor of the Office of the cabinet of Ministers).
Opening speeches will be presented by Honorary Co-chairmen Aigars Kalvītis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, and Dr. Gunter Dunkel, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale.
In the first part of the meeting, Jurijs Strods, Minister for Economics, will inform about the development of the Latvian economic and business environment. Per Moller, representative of the Foreign Investors Council in Latvia, Ernst & Young Baltic partner, will speak about achievements of cooperation between the Government and about future plans in view of the rapidly growing economy in order to improve the investment and business environment in Latvia.
In the second part of the meeting representatives of the Council will express their views concerning several matters being important for the Government and foreign investors – Latvia’s long-term development strategy, macro-economic issues, and availability of labour in Latvia and balanced development of transport.
Māris Avotiņš, Chairman of the Board of Hansabanka, will report on the measures needed for ensuring sustainable development of the Latvian economy. Daiga Cielava, Member of the Board of FONTES Latvia, will inform about solutions with regard to the labour issues. Frode Gronvold, Chairman of the Board of Linstow, will introduce to the vision of the Foreign Investors Council in Latvia on the development of Latvia’s transport industry.
The annual meeting of the Government of Latvia and the Foreign Investors Council in Latvia will be participated by ministers, top officials of governmental institutions and top management of member companies of the Foreign Investors Council in Latvia representing more than 50 foreign investors, such as Baltic Car Import, Bite, Cemex, Dalkia Latvia, Ernst & Young Baltic, Fazer Maiznīcas, GE Money, Hansabanka, Knauf, Latvian Business Bank, Latvija Statoil, Linstow, Narvessen Baltija, Neste Latvia, NCH Advisors, DnB NORD Bank, Rimi Baltic, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Scandinavian Tobacco, SEB Unibanka, Stora Enso, Telia Sonera, VAE Rīga, Volvo Truck Latvia, as well as the heads of seven foreign trade chambers in Latvia representing the USA, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Finland, Germany and Sweden.
