On Friday, December 21, Ivars Godmanis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, went on his first foreign working visit to Tallinn, Estonia in order to participate in the official celebration of the enlargement of the Schengen Zone.
During this working visit the Latvian Prime Minister will meet Andruss Ansip, Prime Minister of Estonia, and Gediminas Kirkilas, Prime Minister of Lithuania. At 00:40 p.m., in the Government building of Estonia (Rahukohtu Street 3, in Tallinn) a joint press briefing of the Baltic Prime Ministers is planned.
The Schengen Zone enlargement celebration will be participated by a number of high officials – Toomas Hendrik Ilves, President of Estonia, José Socrates, Prime Minister of the presiding country Portugal, José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, representatives of the European Commission Siim Kallas and Franco Frattini, as well as representatives from the Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian governments.
