The Prime Minister expresses the most sincere condolences to the people of Russia on the death of Boris Yeltsin

The Prime Minister, Aigars Kalvītis expresses his most sincere condolences to the people of Russia on the death of the first President – Boris Yeltsin.

In his letter to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, the Prime Minister pays compliments to Boris Yeltsin who “was a bright personality - both, as a person and as a politician”.

Aigars Kalvītis expresses appreciation of the people of Latvia to Boris Yeltsin for his contribution in regaining of independence of the Baltic countries and promotion of democracy.

“We have to thank him for Latvia that we have today. Therefore, I am gratified that B.Yeltsin accepted the highest award of Latvia – The Three Stars’ Order during his last visit to Rīga. Presenting the award we said to Mr Yeltsin how highly we value his support at the time when Latvia strived for freedom”, admits the Head of the Government.
