The Prime Minister met representatives of the China Council for Promotion of International Trade

On Tuesday, September 19, Aigars Kalvītis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, met representatives of the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

A. Kalvītis said that this is a very important time for cooperation of China and Latvia, because this year marks the 15 year anniversary of diplomatic relations of Latvia and China, and over these years the contacts and relations of both countries have become very dynamic and active.

The Prime Minister noted that very close cooperation has taken place between representatives of governments and business circles of both countries, which can be seen from increase in investment, active contacts and extensive opportunities for cooperation. A. Kalvītis underscored Latvia’s advantages offered by its favourable geographic location and experience in cooperation with neighbouring countries. The Prime Minister expressed Latvia’s interest to offer Latvia as an advantageous business environment providing opportunities for work with partners not only in the European Union but also Russia and other CIS countries.

During the meeting the officials discussed the existing economic cooperation of Latvia and China and opportunities for further development of economic cooperation of businessmen of both countries. A. Kalvītis informed the representatives of the delegation of Chinese businessmen about the ability of the Latvian Development Agency to provide Chinese businessmen with information on business opportunities and potential cooperation partners in Latvia.
