On Monday, January 23, Aigars Kalvītis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, met István Mohácsi, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to Latvia, who paid Aigars Kalvītis an introductory visit. Aigars Kalvītis expressed hope that the relations of Latvia and Hungary would become even closer and that economic, scientific, educational and cultural relations would become broader. Cooperation and common interests are determined by the European Union (EU) and NATO membership of both countries. Both sides discussed the issues concerning further progress of the EU Constitutional Treaty and the Financial Perspective for 2007-2013, the agenda of EU Presidency for 2006, cooperation within the framework of NATO, as well as topical international issues.
