Today, continuing his official visit to Ukraine, Aigars Kalvītis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, visited the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and met its Prime Minister Anatoliy Burdyugov. The Prime Minister of Crimea informed Aigars Kalvītis about the perspective of economic development of Crimea and appreciated the investments of Latvian businessmen in Crimea, which amount to 3% of the total volume of foreign investments. During the meeting, the main focus was on economic cooperation of Latvia and Crimea, attraction of investments, expansion of trade and promotion of exchange of tourists. Development of tourism could be facilitated by the starting of direct flights from Rīga to Sevastopol by the Latvian national airline AIRBALTIC. In Crimea, the Aigars Kalvītis visited the port of Donuzlava, became acquainted with its operation and opportunities provided in the transit sector. Latvia will consider using the port of Donuzlava in future as a transit point for Latvian companies. On Thursday, December 1, Aigars Kalvītis will pay a short visit to Sevastopol. After returning to Kiev, the Prime Minister will go to Tallinn, where a meeting of the Prime Ministers of the Baltic States and Tony Blair, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, will take place.
