Today, Aigars KalvÄ«tis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, met Moshe Katsav, State President of Israel, who has come to Latvia on a state visit. During the bilateral meeting and working dinner, Aigars KalvÄ«tis and Moshe Katsav discussed bilateral relations of Latvia and Israel, paying particular attention to economic cooperation. Aigars KalvÄ«tis noted the historical importance of the visit of the State President of Israel, and the friendly and stable political dialogue between both countries. This can be seen from visits and meetings of experts, cooperation between parliaments of both countries, as well as close contacts in education, culture and science. The Prime Minister noted with satisfaction the increasing volume of trade and active business contacts. Aigars KalvÄ«tis and Moshe Katsav agreed that LatviaâÀ™s membership of the European Union offers opportunities for closer economic cooperation, increase in trade, attraction of investments and contacts of businessmen. Both sides shared the opinion that it is very important to deepen cooperation in the field of new technologies and science, as well as promote establishment of personal contacts between businessmen and exchange of delegations of businessmen.
