Today, during his visit to Poland, Aigars Kalvītis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, participates in celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Polish popular movement Solidarity in Gdansk. In the morning, Aigars Kalvītis took part in the international conference From Solidarity to Freedom, which was opened by the former President of Poland Lech Walesa and current President Aleksander Kwasniewski. The Prime Minister also had a meeting with Marek Belka, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, during which bilateral relations were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the New Neighbourhood Policy of the European Union (EU) and EU Financial Perspective for 2007-2013. Aigars Kalvītis met Boris Tadic, President of Serbia, and discussed cooperation between both countries noting the need to sign bilateral agreements promoting mutual economic cooperation. The Prime Minister said that these agreements could be signed during the visit of the Minister for Foreign Affairs Artis Pabriks to Serbia, which is planned to take place in October. Aigars Kalvītis also had a bilateral meeting with Ivo Sanader, Prime Minister of Croatia. Both sides exchanged views on possible start of negotiations about accession of Croatia to the EU. Ivo Sanader informed on the work that the Government of Croatia has done in implementing the action plan in the context of EU matters. Aigars Kalvītis also had short conversations with the Prime Ministers of Finland and Estonia. As part of the celebrations, Aigars Kalvītis today opened a photo exhibition of Latvian artists entitled Return to Europe with singing revolutions
