In order to implement the necessary security measures during the visit of the US President to Rīga on May 6-7, the following restrictions to movement of persons and transport are planned: - Security measures in Rīga will be implemented in the following areas:
- In Old Rīga and adjacent territories to the 13 January Street. - In the surroundings of hotel Radisson SAS Daugava and in the Kuģu Street (the security perimeter may be extended). - In the central part of the city, between Kr. Valdemāra Street, Kr. Barona Street and 13 January Street from the Daugava River to Dzirnavu Street. (See the attached map). - Movement across Akmens Bridge and Vanšu Bridge will be partially restricted at certain times of the day.
- All state and municipal institutions and private companies that are located in these areas and employees of which need to be at work at this time have to provide information to the Security Service of the Saeima and the President, by phone: 9473027 or 7389060, or by fax: 7368706. Additional information will be available there on the above-mentioned restrictions.
- Citizens are asked to be cooperative and, upon request by the State Police and the Security Service of the Saeima and the President, allow the inspection of their apartments that are located in these security areas.
- Taking into consideration that the programme of the visit as well as security issues are still being concretised, the initial information may be changed. Additional information will be provided about any changes.
- Information will be concretised about the flights of people travelling through the Rīga International Airport, as well as about traffic restrictions on the Jūrmala Highway.
