Today, during his working visit to Warsaw, Poland, Aigars Kalvītis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, met Aleksander Kwaśniewski, President of Poland. During the meeting, Aleksander Kwaśniewski accepted the invitation of Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, President of Latvia, to visit Latvia on a working visit on May 4 to participate in the events related to the 15th anniversary of adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Aigars Kalvītis and Aleksander Kwaśniewski discussed questions concerning the celebrations of May 9 in Moscow. The Prime Minister appreciated statements of Aleksander Kwaśniewski on the need to evaluate the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and its influence on the history of Baltic States and countries in Central Europe. During the conversation, Aigars Kalvītis thanked Aleksander Kwaśniewski for his personal contribution in solving the conflict in Ukraine, which is of great historical importance. The Prime Minister will return to Latvia on February 15.
