On Monday, February 14, Aigars KalvÄ«tis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia will go on a working visit to Poland, where several important meetings are planned. On February 14, in Warsaw, Aigars KalvÄ«tis will meet Polish Prime Minister Marek Belka and have a joint press conference. During the meeting, it is planned to discuss bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and position in several important issues of the European Union (EU): EU financial perspective for 2007-2013, Lisbon Strategy, EU tax policy, free movement of services and labour. Attention will be paid to the European Neighbourhood Policy, relations with Russia, security issues, and situation in Iraq. In the afternoon, a meeting is planned between Aigars KalvÄ«tis and Aleksander KwaÅ›niewski, President of Poland. During the meeting, it is planned to discuss the bilateral relations of Latvia and Poland, and the ratification of the EU Constitution. During the visit to Warsaw, Aigars KalvÄ«tis will meet WÅ‚odzimierz Cimoszewicz, Speaker of the Sejm, Jerzy Jaskiernia, Chairman of the Sejm Foreign Affairs Committee, as well as the Vice Speaker of the Polish Senate. On Monday evening, Alberts Sarkanis, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Poland, will hold an official reception in honour of the working visit of the Prime Minister to Poland, to which high-level Polish officials are invited. The Prime Minister will return to Latvia on February 15.
